Get Involved & Stay Connected

Communication

Powerschool

There are lots of ways to stay connected at Fairmont. First, create a parent account on Powerschool: https://wccusd.powerschool.com/public/

Creating your Powerschool account with a valid email address will allow you to receive email communication from both WCCUSD and Fairmont.

Peachjar

As part of WCCUSD's ongoing efforts to reduce cost and improve efficiency and be more environmentally-friendly, they have transitioned to a digital flyer delivery system. Flyers from community organizations and Parent-Teacher Organizations (PTAs) will be distributed through email via Peachjar. To ensure you receive this important information about the district, Fairmont school, and the community in general, please sign up below.

Follow this link: https://accounts.peachjar.com/signup/parent and sign up with your email address and the school name. With questions please call (858) 997-2117 or email support@peachjar.com.

You can also sign up for our Fairmont PTA email list - you do not need to be a PTA member to sign up to receive information. We share important school information and updates, fun family events, and meeting information for school committees, district board meetings, and other information important to your child's education at Fairmont. Social Media

A great way to stay connected is by joining our Facebook group, Fairmont El Cerrito Rocks!

The group is a great space to meet other families, share events, ask questions, and share information with our Fairmont community.

You can also follow us on Instagram where we share photos from events, fundraisers, and more!

Advocate for Education!

Get information on issues affecting your child, school and community. The CA State PTA mission is to positively impact the lives of all children and families. Our wide-ranging advocacy efforts and impacts include community concerns, education, family engagement and health: all of which impact the current and future success of California kids — and our state as a whole.

Follow the links above or click here for more information on state-wide advocacy initiatives and how you can help support.

Volunteer Opportunities

One of the best ways to get involved and stay connected is by volunteering at Fairmont. Our school relies on the support of parents, family members, and other caregivers. Volunteers at Fairmont must first complete the district finger printing process and receive their clearance badge. We are currently asking volunteers on campus to provide proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test at the front office.

Please check out the different ways you can help below.

Sign up to be a volunteer through the district website now:

If you have any questions or want more information before signing up, please visit the district volunteer information page: https://www.wccusd.net/domain/93

Some ideas of ways to volunteer at Fairmont

  • Lunch & Recess: Help keep kids safe and help us reduce food waste by helping kids sort their compostables and recyclables & helping them to move through from lunch to recess and back to class.

  • Fairmont's Library: We have a part-time librarian who provides an opportunity for each class to come through and check out books. Contact your teacher and let them know if you're interested in helping. Your teacher will know your child's class library schedule. They may need a parent to help the kids find books and shelving books back after they've been checked in.

  • Garden: Our garden teacher, Ms. Claire, may need help time to time in the garden to help keep it clean and growing! In general, garden help might be things like picking up garbage, weeding, and sweeping.

  • Help in Classrooms: Please reach out directly to your teacher if you'd like to ask if they need help in the classroom. Many teachers welcome it, some are unsure, and some find it easier to manage the class without a volunteer. There could also be an occasion that you'd like to help with and if you could be specific about it with your teacher, let them know -- such as doing an art project or science project with the class or helping during a holiday celebration.

  • TK Help: There's a big need for help with our TK class. We have one teacher without the help of an aide who can really use the extra support. You don't need to be a TK parent to help in the class.

  • If you have an idea for another way to get involved, let us know! We look forward to seeing you at Fairmont!
