ABOUT THE PTA

• We fund enrichment programs like, music, arts, and science, and we fund continued support of our garden.

• We support teachers by providing them allocations to pay for classroom supplies and field trips (as permitted).

• We help support and coordinate the 5th grade overnight field trip to Pt. Bonita (when safety permits) and 6th grade commencement activities and events.

• We provide fun activities that also foster family involvement, such as Board Game Night, Family Fun Night, and Friendship Dances.

• We provide the school with educational events such as Family Reading Night and Family Math Night, as well as assemblies.

• We work to foster healthy habits among our students and families, including hosting events like Walk-to-School Day and the Spirit Race.

• We coordinate volunteers on campus to help support teachers in the classroom, to provide supervision and support at lunch and recess, and to help with the garden, the library, and anywhere we see a need.

• We help to improve the appearance of the school. We have transformed an unused plot of land into an edible garden.

• In Spring of 2009, we sponsored the creation of a mural in the kindergarten yard, titled “Growing Minds”.

Hello! My name is Jolie. I have 2 children at Fairmont; one in 3rd grade and the other 1st. This will be my third year on the PTA Board and second year as the PTA president; previously, I was the PTA Volunteer Coordinator. I am excited to serve as the PTA President. My goal as President is to grow relationships between Fairmont families and staff, enhance our children's experience at Fairmont and build community relationships. Hi, I am Nicole, a parent of a 1st grade student at Fairmont. This will be our third year as a family in the Fairmont Community and we are so grateful to be a part of it!  I want to support the programs, the events and the culture of this school to continue to be inclusive of everyone.  I have over a decade of experience working in the public school system as a leader of after school programs in NYC and have worked in multiple non profits to help secure resources for families.  Most recently, I worked for the Governor’s Office, connecting communities across California with resources the state provides its residents.  Currently, I am a Kindergarten teacher at another WCCUSD school.  I also have a side gig as a personal trainer teaching women’s workout classes at the city rec center and parks, which is a true passion of mine! 

As a father of a 3rd and 6th grader at Fairmont, I’ve seen how much the PTA does to enrich our children’s education. I want to ensure we have the solid financial footing to keep Fairmont’s intracurricular programs supported given the challenges we face as a broader school district. I aim to help audit and organize the budget and provide a clear picture of how money flows through our school, ensuring every dollar we raise is transparent and goes directly toward benefiting our students and teachers.

My professional background is in human visual perception and applied science, where I focus on rigorous experimental design and data analysis. I spend my days ensuring that complex systems work effectively and efficiently. I look forward to bringing that same level of precision and accountability to the treasurer role to support our school community.

I am a father to two girls (a current Fairmonter in 2nd grader, a “future Fairmonter” in pre-school), and I am all about Fairmont.

As the current membership chair, I hope to grow our ranks by reaching out to a wide variety of folks in our community that are not currently engaged. I’m here to help dads like myself find a way to get involved, and busy parents who aren’t as tapped into what’s happening in school and in our community and just need a little encouragement to get involved. I am excited to support our amazing school so our kids, teachers, staff, and parents have the best experience possible.

Hi, I’m Jordan, and we’re currently in our third year at Fairmont with our son in 1st grade. I work in finance and compliance at UC Berkeley and plan to bring those skills to the PTA board. I’ve really enjoyed being part of this community so far and am excited to get more involved. I’m looking forward to connecting with more of you as we plan for next year!

My name is Sandy and I'm a proud mom to two Fairmont kids, a 6th grader and a 9th grader now at El Cerrito High. We've been part of Fairmont’s amazing community since my eldest was a kindergartener, and I'm excited to be able to give back through the PTA! 

I'm a science communicator who has two students at Fairmont: a first grader and a fourth grader. For the past several years, I've worked to expand our grants program, which now brings in tens of thousands of dollars to our school. Grants help fund enrichment activities like field trips, painted murals, new equipment, and the school garden. At its best, fundraising brings school families, teachers, and administrators together with community partners to realize a shared vision for a stronger school.

Hi! I'm Erin, mom to a Kindergarten kid. Coming from a cooperative preschool I have found immense value in building community to not only support our growing students, but also our teachers and families. I work in public health and also moonlight as a creative community builder and educator. My passion is working to bring people together for a common good. I look forward to contributing to the Fairmont community!

Hello, I'm Catherine, mother of a 4th Grader. 

Christine and I are working on behalf of the PTA with Fairmont administration, teachers and staff, to help facilitate the arts and science enrichment curriculum at Fairmont. 

In my time being on the PTA, I have a first-hand account of all that the PTA provides. I am encouraged we can accomplish a lot this year under the guidance of this wonderful board and especially with (and not without!) the support of a giving community.

My professional background is architecture and engineering and I have volunteered for and led many programs in schools from elementary through high school - introducing young students to the world of design and construction. I aim to use this experience to find opportunities for enhance the Art and STEM programming at Fairmont.

Hi! My name is Christine and I’m mom to two Fairmont students. I look forward to collaborating with Fairmont teachers, administrators, community partners, PTA members, and parent volunteers to support academic enrichment opportunities for our students. Given the budget challenges facing our district, I think it’s more important now than ever for the PTA to work together with the whole Fairmont community to bring in resources to expand academic enrichment opportunities. In my day job, I’m a maternal, child and adolescent health researcher. My work involves talking with diverse groups of community and government stakeholders. Together we identify and prioritize needs, then collaboratively build strategies to address them. I’m deeply committed to equity and to promoting the well-being of all children both in California and here in our school community. 

Hello! My name is Alondra Trevino-Ortiz, I’m a Fairmont mom of a 1st grader and now 7th grader who came through Fairmont. By day, I work as a civil engineer, managing different projects and collaborating with different stakeholders. I am excited to bring my organizational almond communication skills to support our school community and help make Fairmont the best it can be for our students and families. 

Hi! My name is Sarah, and I'm the parent of a 3rd grader and 5th grader. I'm passionate about designing fun, community-forward, inclusive events that bring all the families at Fairmont together! In my spare time, I spend way too much time crafting and fancy myself an avid party planner, dreaming up creative kids' parties on a shoestring budget. On a larger scale, I spent two years as the President of their cooperative preschool, where I helped organize the overarching goals for all school events and reimagined new events during the peak of Covid. I would love to work with teams of parents to channel this same energy into Fairmont events!

Hi, My name is Margery and I’m Mom to a 2nd grader.  I am the communications co-chair on the PTA. As a new Fairmont parent/member I've been really inspired by the enthusiasm and dedication of the community in support of the school and staff. I would be honored to lend both my time and experience to the communications role. I have been a theatre maker in the Bay Area for over 20 years and have worked for a Non-Profit Organization as the Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator. I have a lot of skills in organizing events, campaigns and fundraisers as well as crafting the communications necessary in making them successful. Hello Fairmont families! My name is Rita, and I’m a proud mother of a 1st grader at Fairmont. My daughter also attended TK and Kinder here, and my connection to Fairmont goes back many years. When my family first moved from Chile to the Bay Area, my two younger sisters and my cousin attended Fairmont, and this school quickly became a second home for all of us.

Growing up, I watched my mother stay deeply involved in our schools, from committees in El Cerrito to Berkeley, where my siblings and I continued our education. Her dedication made a lasting impact on me, and now, with my husband’s support, I’m excited to follow in her footsteps and give back to our school community.

Professionally, I majored in finance and have worked in banking for over 15 years, but my heart is in community building and supporting our kids. I truly believe that when families and schools work together, our children thrive. I’m eager to bring my experience, energy, and willingness to help to ensure all our kids receive the strongest foundation and the best educational experience possible.

I'm passionate about finding small and large ways for families to get involved as volunteers, serving the needs of the school and helping parents connect with the teachers, staff and each other. Hi, my name is Jamie! I am a dedicated Fairmont parent with children across multiple grade levels, including a now 7th grader who just graduated from Fairmont, twin boys in 4th grade, and a Kinder student. Our family has been part of the Fairmont community for nearly three years, giving me a strong understanding of the school’s needs and the importance of clear communication between families, teachers, and staff.

With a passion for technology and organization, I am excited to support the PTA as the tech person. I aim to help streamline communication, improve access to information, and ensure families stay connected and informed.
