3.  Can We Take Cash and Checks?

• Yes! We can take cash and checks.

• Checks payable to Fairmont Elementary PTA

• Collect your cash and checks, put them in an envelope, write your name, write your child's name, your child's teacher, and your phone number on the envelope and turn into the front office. The PTA will pick up your envelops and add your dollar amount to your pledge page so it counts toward your participation.

4. How It Works

The Walk-a-Thon will take place on Friday, October 11th during school hours. Students will be walking around the grass field on the back of campus throughout the school day. Parents, family, and friends are invited to come watch from outside the fence on Eureka so you can cheer for our students.

4. Volunteer To Help!

In order for our Walk-a-Thon to happen, we need your help! If you are a badged volunteer with the West Contra Costa School District, you can sign up to help. We need families to help set up the different stations kids will walk through on the field, provide supplies such as snacks and more, be present during the Walk-a-Thon to manage stations (such as marking lap tallies on student cards), and to help clean up.

  • As a volunteer during the Walk-a-Thon, you must be a badged volunteer.

5. Prizes

• Grade Level with the highest participation (% of students who raise $1+) - popsicle party

• Grade Level with the highest fundraising total - popsicle party 

• Student with most laps per grade level - prize coming soon!

6. Walk-a-Thon Schedule

• 8:45-9:30 AM -- TK (Ms. Reeves & Ms. Andersen), Kindergarten (Ms. Como, Ms. Saltviet & Ms. Higley), and ESN (Ms. Marshall & Ms. Breanna).

• 10:30-11:15 -- 1st (Ms. O'Neill, Ms. Feria & Mx A) and 3rd grade (Ms. Kelso, Ms. Said & Ms. Umoru).

• 1:00-1:45 -- 2nd (Ms. Hseih), 4th (Mr. Ko), 6th (Mr. Auday & Ms. Kidd), and 5/6 Combo (Mr. Gardner).

• 1:45-2:30 -- 2nd (Ms. DeVost & Ms. Costello), 4th (Ms. Leung), and 5th (Mr. Brizzi & Mr. Tiger).

7. Spirit Week: Oct. 7- Oct. 11

• PJ Monday - Wear your coziest PJs and bring a (small) stuffie!

• Twin Tuesday - Match your besties as twins, triplets, quads, or more! 

• Wayback Wednesday - Dress from a different decade - the 90s, 80s, 70, 60s, and beyond!

• Fall Fever Thursday - Pumpkins, leaves, bring on the fall! 

• Walk-a-Thon Spirit Friday - Show off your school spirit with Fairmont gear, wearing blue and gold, or your Walk-a-Thon shirt!
  
  

8. Walk-a-Thon Watch Party

Join the Fairmont PTA for some snacks and coffee while you cheer your class and kids on from the sidewalk around the grass field! Look for the table outside the fence of the back field along Eureka and Lexington. Questions? Email us at PTA@fairmontschool.org

9. What Is The Walk-a-Thon And Why Are We Walking?

The Walk-a-Thon is a great way for kids to participate in an all-school activity together while also supporting our school.  Our goal is to raise $50,000 which will go to supporting our garden space and garden coordinator, Ms. Claire, as well as our enrichment programs, providing supplies for our school, and paying for community engagement opportunities.

On Friday, October 11th students will walk from their classrooms to the grass field and walk, run, skip the perimeter of the grass field. We will have various stations the students will go through to make it fun -- such as a bubble station, dance station, limbo station, and more. Students will have tally cards that volunteers will mark for each lap around the field.

Parents/families/guardians are invited to cheer their kids on from the outside of the fence. Fairmont's PTA will be outside the fence with coffee and snacks -- stop by and say hi!
